PhilHealth rolls out simplified, convenient registration process

Filipinos may now have an easier time getting that first step to avail of the government's health services, as the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) rolled out a simplified registration system.

PhilHealth president and CEO Alexander Padilla said
Filipinos need only fill out a PhilHealth Member Registration Form (PMRF).

“The time and money needed to gather numerous documents in the past have made it difficult for many families to avail themselves of the most affordable health insurance in the country today,” Padilla said.

He added the process is now easier and more convenient as it does away with so many documents during enrolment.

But PhilHealth also said it can still ask for supporting documents if needed.

Still, Padilla said waiving too many documents at enrollment "effectively removes barriers to coverage by making it easier for more Filipinos to register with us."

Under the system, prospective PhilHealth members need only to fill out and sign the PMRF in duplicate at any PhilHealth office or authorized registration center.

They will then be assigned a permanent PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN), which will be used in:

  • Paying contributions
  • Availing of benefits
  • Updating of membership profile
Prospective members can also register online.

However, the PhilHealth said a member who signs the PMRF should certify under oath that all information he or she supplies in the form, including the declared dependents, are true and accurate.

Meanwhile, Padilla said the simplified enrollment will go hand-in-hand with simplified availment of benefits in hospitals and other health facilities through the case-based payment system that took effect in January. — VC, GMA News
