NGCP braces power grid for Glenda onslaught

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines has taken precautions to minimize the impact of Tropical Storm Glenda (Rammasun) on power transmission operations and facilities.

In a statement, the NGCP said its Integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP) ensures the readiness of power transmission facilities that may  experience the effects of the storm.

"Preparations included ensuring the reliability of communications equipment, availability of hardware materials and supplies necessary for the repair of damages to facilities, as well as the positioning of line crews in strategic areas, to facilitate immediate restoration work," it said.

State weather agency PAGASA earlier said Glenda may make landfall over Catanduanes on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the NGCP said its Overall Disaster Command Center monitors all power restoration activities, reports, and updates from regional command centers in North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
