Claims against Prudentialife to be processed until March 7

Corporate creditors and planholders of shuttered preneed firm Prudentialife Plans Inc. (PPI) have been given until March 7 to file claims for their trust assets.

In a notice to the public, all corporate creditors and planholders have been advised to file their claims through its duly appointed liquidator Dionne Marie Sanchez.

"(F)ile their claims through the duly appointed Liquidator, Atty. Dionne Marie M. Sanchez at Unit 2017, Tycoon Centre, Pearl Drive, San Antonio, Ortigas Center, Pasig City," the notice read.

The liquidator may also be contacted at (02) 727-4964 or (02) 727-4753, or through email at PPICorporateLiquidation@gmail.com

Transactions coursed through other persons or entities other than Sanchez will be considered unauthorized and will not be honored.

According to PPI, the claims must be presented in writing and include the following:

  • Name, contact number and address of claimant
  • Amount claimed
  • Basis or reason for the claim and supporting documents for the claim
  • Pre-need plan and copy of certificate of full payment if applicable
  • Two valid government identification cards

"Any alleged creditor who fails to file a claim on or before 7 March 2018 is considered to have waived his or her claim," the notice read.

The Insurance Commission (IC) placed PPI under receivership on September 19, 2012 after efforts to rehabilitate the firm failed to meet its obligations.

Planholders were earlier required to file their claims before September 28, 2017, but several creditors and planholders were not able to do so, as they were not aware.

To address this, the Makati Regional Trial Cout Branch 147 allowed the reopening of the period for creditors and qualified planholders to file their claims on January 26, 2018. — MDM, GMA News
