24 ORAS, SAKSI remain newscast leaders in 2nd quarter

GMA-7 Network’s 24 ORAS and SAKSI continue to lead the country's news programs in terms of viewership in Mega Manila, according to AGB Nielsen Philippines. The latest data, gathered by AGB Nielsen during its April to June 24, 2010 Mega Manila individual ratings and audience share, showed that the Kapuso Network’s primetime newscast, 24 ORAS, bested TV Patrol World by 1.2 percent and 0.7 rating points. In terms of individual audience share data, 24 ORAS also led TV Patrol World by 1.1 percent in April, 1.5 percent in May, and 0.8 percent in the run up to June 24. GMA-7’s late-night newscast, SAKSI, on the other hand, dominated Bandila from April to June 24 with 2.4 rating points. In April, Saksi posted a 2-rating point lead over the competing station’s newscast. In May, SAKSI posted 5.7 rating points against Bandila’s 2.9 – a commanding lead of 2.8 rating points. From June 1 to 24, SAKSI bested the competition with 2.5 rating points, the individual ratings data from AGB Nielsen showed. AGB Nielsen holds the distinction as the ratings provider most subscribed and recognized by the industry. Individual ratings, also called People Ratings, is the key information that advertisers look at because individual data measures the actual “eyeballs" or the number of people watching a particular program at any given date and time. Individual ratings and audience share data from April to June 24, further affirmed the status of GMA News and Public Affairs as the most preferred and most trusted broadcast news organization in the country, reflecting the rousing success of ELEKSYON 2010 – GMA-7’s election coverage that clearly outclassed the competition. 24 ORAS became the top primetime newscast since it took the category-lead lead during ratings taken from Nov. 22 to Dec. 31, 2004. SAKSI is the leading late night newscast for almost seven years now. Partial data from AGB Nielsen’s individual ratings this month continue to show both 24 ORAS and SAKSI ahead of the competition. Hosted by the most formidable and credible names in local broadcasting today – 24 ORAS is hosted by award winning broadcast journalists Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco, and SAKSI by Arnold Clavio and Vicky Morales, backed by the country’s most respected news team that has won both local and international awards. GMA-7’s evening newscasts continue to work tirelessly to earn the viewers' trust. As the country's leading news programs, 24 ORAS and SAKSI remain committed to upholding the highest standards of ethics in journalism, delivering reliable, unbiased reporting, comprehensive coverage, and Serbisyong Totoo that the Filipino viewers truly deserve. —VS, GMANews.TV
