BOC seizes P522 million of fake goods in Pasay

Hundreds of boxes of fake products estimated to be worth P521.93 million were seized by the agents of the Bureau of Customs on Thursday in a warehouse along Cuneta Avenue, Pasay City.

Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, agents from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service and Enforcement and Security Service discovered fake goods in 10 units of Warehouse 142, Deputy Commissioner Ricardo Quinto of the Intelligence Group said on Friday.

Fake apparel such as Lee, Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Vans, including fake fitflop, Crocs sandals, non-branded watches and comfort shoes were discovered in the warehouse.

The items did not have the required import permits, the bureau noted.

The bureau identified the warehouse administrator as Lita Liao. Liao supposedly told the bureau that the warehouse units were leased to Mr. Ang, Mr. Gee, and Mr. Ty.

No arrest was made as the supposed unit owners were not around when the BOC raided the warehouse. — VDS, GMA News
