Filipino nurses in Arizona donate for 'Frank' victims

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino nurses based in Arizona donated $4,000 (P189,680) to victims of typhoon Frank in Iloilo province, an online news site reported Thursday. The News Today (www.thenewstoday.info) reported that the Philippine Nurses Association of Arizona (Pnaaz) coursed the donation through the Rotary Club of Iloilo West. Pnaaz voluntarily raised the money to help the communities and families devastated by the typhoon, the report said. It said Pnazz's Shirletta Acurantes-Soden, who hails from Pavia, Iloilo, facilitated the donation. The Rotary Club of Iloilo West identified the beneficiaries of the donation and bought the needed medical equipment and supplies for the typhoon-devastated communities. Organizations that received the donations include the Janiuay District Hospital, the municipal health offices of Pavia and Janiuay, and the various barangay health centers in Janiuay, Cabatuan, Sta. Barbara and Iloilo City. Medical supplies and equipment donated include sphygmomanometers, stethoscopes, Doppler machines and nebulizers. These equipment were intended to replenish the ones lost by the health centers during the flood. According to the medical director of the Janiuay District Hospital, they used to have four Doppler machines but they were all destroyed during the flood. The donation made by the Filipino nurses from Arizona would greatly health the hospital in its health service delivery. GMANews.TV
