Anakpawis Rep. Crispin Beltran succumbed to severe head injuries while being treated at the Far Eastern University Hospital after he had an accident in his Bulacan home Tuesday morning. He was 75. ISSUES
  • Arrested under State of National Emergency. Beltran was arrested on February 25, 2006, Saturday, a day after Pres. Arroyo declared a State of National Emergency through Proclamation 1017. On February 28, charges of rebellion were filed against him and his Batasan 5 colleagues by the Department of Justice before the Makati Regional Trial Court. He was put under hospital arrest at the Philippine Heart Center for more than a year and was released only on July 10, 2007 after the Supreme Court ordered on June 1, 2007 the dismissal of the rebellion cases against him and his colleagues.
  • Aroyo Impeachment 2005. On September 5, 2005, he voted no to the House Committee on Justice Report No. 12, which junked the impeachment complaint against Arroyo.
