Former Pangasinan vice mayor, wife shot dead in Manila ambush

A former town vice mayor of Pangasinan province and his wife were shot dead in an ambush in Manila's Sampaloc district Wednesday night. Police homicide investigators are not discounting the attack may be related to a failed slay try in March 2011, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported Thursday. Killed in the ambush were former Lingayen Vice Mayor Ramon Arcinue and wife Zorayda. Mrs. Arcinue was the incumbent chairman of Poblacion village in Lingayen, an earlier dzBB report said. An initial investigation showed the victims had just returned to their house along Maceda Street in Sampaloc, Manila and got off their CR-V sport-utility vehicle when they were shot. Both victims were shot in the head, the report said. Manila Police District homicide investigator SPO2 Edmund Cabal said Wednesday night's incident may be connected with a failed ambush on Arcinue in March 2011. A Philippines News Agency report in 2011 said the couple were shot and wounded by unidentified gunmen riding in tandem on a motorcycle in Binmaley town in Pangasinan. — LBG, GMA News
