MMDA: Number coding lifted Tuesday for Independence Day rites

The number coding scheme in major roads in Metro Manila will be lifted on Tuesday, when the nation marks its 114th Independence Day, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Sunday. In posts on its Twitter account Sunday, the MMDA pointed out the number coding scheme is automatically lifted on a holiday. "Number coding is automatically lifted on holidays," it said. Several netizens had inquired during the weekend if the number coding will be lifted this Tuesday. Under the number coding scheme, vehicles are banned from major roads in Metro Manila from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday, depending on the last digits of their license plates. Had the number coding scheme not been lifted, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 are barred from major roads from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Independence Day. — LBG, GMA News
