Sleeping on campus: UST students on a rainy Monday night

With floodwaters clogging main roads along España Boulevard and water seeping in on campus, University of Santo Tomas (UST) kept its doors open for stranded students amid heavy rain on Monday night.

The Varsitarian, UST’s official campus publication, shared photos on Facebook of Thomasians coping with the weather: in slippers or barefoot on the road, with plastic chairs as bridges, and benches and floors for beds as an estimated 1500 students spent the night under their alma mater’s roof.

UST suspended classes and offices on Tuesday to allow all stranded students on campus to go home.
