PNR train hits, kills man in Sampaloc

A man was killed after being hit by a Philippine National Railways train while he was crossing the tracks in Manila's Sampaloc district early Wednesday.

The man was hit at the tracks near P. Tuazon Street. He was rushed to the Sampaloc hospital but succumbed to his injuries, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.

Citing an initial report by SPO1 Valiente Alvarez III, the report said the train that hit the man was heading south for Alabang.

For its part, the PNR said on its Twitter account the victim may have not seen the CX109 southbound train.

It said the southbound train was crossing the tracks at the same time as a northbound train.

"The victim was only looking at the northbound CX and was hit by the southbound," it said. –KG, GMA News
