Number coding lifted 'metrowide' on Friday, a holiday

Motorists whose vehicles' plate numbers end in 9 or 0 will get a bye from Metro Manila’s number coding scheme, as it will be lifted this Friday, a holiday.

Malacañang announced earlier that October 26, Friday is a holiday marking Eid El-Adha. The holiday, also known as the feast of sacrifice, is an important Islamic holiday marking the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God.

"Number coding will be lifted on Friday, October 26, 2012 ... This is metrowide during regular holidays," the MMDA said on its Twitter account.

The MMDA also retweeted a similar post by the Makati City government that the city’s number coding system will be lifted on Friday. — DVM, GMA News
