With crowds in cemeteries, MMDA lifts traffic coding Nov 1-2

Motorists whose vehicles have plate numbers ending in 7, 8, 9 and 0 can drive their cars all over Metro Manila during the Undas holidays as the Metro Manila Development Authority will lift the number coding scheme from November 1 to 2.

"This is metrowide, including Makati and Las Piñas Cities," the MMDA said in an advisory on its Twitter account.

Proclamation 295 issued by President Benigno Aquino III on November 24, 2011 designated November 1 and 2 as special nonworking days.

Under the number coding scheme, vehicles are barred from major thoroughfares in Metro Manila on certain days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., depending on the last digit of their plate numbers.

On Thursdays, normally, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 7 and 8 are barred from major thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On Fridays, a similar rule applies to vehicles with plate numbers ending in 9 and 0. — DVM, GMA News
