MMDA advises motorists on Tour of the Fireflies route on Sunday
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Saturday advised motorists on the yearly Tour of the Fireflies, the largest gathering of bikes in Metro Manila seeking to promote an environmentally friendly form of transport. In a post on its Twitter account, the MMDA indicated the roads and thoroughfares where the participants of this year's tour will pass. According to the MMDA, the tour is to start at 7 a.m. and end at noon. Citing a tweet from the organizers, it said the route will be as follows:
7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.: Tiendesitas, Ortigas Avenue towards C5 and Marcos Highway 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.: Marcos Highway towards Marikina City 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.: stopover at Patio Del Zapatero 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.: Marcos Highway towards Katipunan Ave., Quezon City 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.: Katipunan Ave. C.P. Garcia, Elliptical Rd, East Ave., Timog Avenue, Morato Avenue, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 nn.: E.Rodriquez, New Manila, Gilmore, Ortigas towards Tiendesitas through Emerald Ave. Pasig City
The organizers indicated the yearly tour aims to promote bicycles for environmentally sustainable transportation. Earlier this week, the MMDA also made a pitch for bicycles as it opened two bike lanes in Manila. — LBG, GMA News More Videos
