30 CCTV cameras to beef up security at Rizal Park

Visitors to the Rizal Park (Luneta Park) area in Manila may be assured of beefed-up security with the installation of at least 30 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras there.

The cameras will line the area between Quirino Grandstand and Taft Avenue, National Parks Development Committee spokesman Kenneth Montegrande said Monday.

"Hindi ito bababa sa 30, all over, inside and outside," Montegrande said in an interview on dzBB radio.

He said the cameras will include stationary cameras and those that can rotate 360 degrees.

The CCTV cameras are part of the NPDC's efforts to protect tourists and visitors at the park, he added.

During the holiday season, several tourists and Filipino families are expected to visit Rizal Park.

In past years, many Filipino families spent Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve at the Rizal Park area to bond together and to watch the attractions such as the dancing fountains. –KG, GMA News
