Manila vice mayor, 5 councilors 'arrested' for illegal gambling

Police on Saturday took into custody Manila Vice Mayor Francisco Domagoso (a.k.a. Isko Moreno) and five councilors for alleged involvement in illegal gambling. The Manila Police District brought Domagoso and the five others to the MPD Station 3 in Quiapo following the "arrest" along Tambunting Street, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported. A separate report on dzRH radio said the vice mayor sustained bruises in an alleged scuffle. The dzRH report also quoted the vice mayor as saying one of his companions was allegedly strangled by the police. Former President Joseph Estrada went to the MPD Police Station 3 to know what charges were to be filed against Domagoso, his running mate in the Manila mayoral race. Estrada was quoted in the report as saying he may study legal action against the police personnel involved in the arrest. As of 6:30 p.m., the report said the MPD Station 3 still would not say whether it would lodge charges against Domagoso and his companions. — LBG, GMA News
