LTFRB to start inspecting school service vehicles May 27

As the start of the new school year draws closer, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has mapped out plans to inspect public utility vehicles being used for school service.

The LTFRB's inspections will include tricycles being used in some areas of Metro Manila to ferry children to and from school, radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported.

LTFRB teams will check against overloading of tricycles, which may  carry only up to four passengers - three in the sidecar and one at the back of the driver.

Also, the LTFRB will coordinate with local government officials, who have a say in granting franchises to the tricycle operators.

On Monday, May 27, the LTFRB will inspect school service vehicles in some zones in Makati City. On Tuesday, it will conduct a similar inspection in Maybunga village in Pasig City.

It will also conduct inspections on June 3 and 4, the first two days of the school year.  — ELR, GMA News
