Another Quiapo raid yields P24M in pirated discs

Authorities seized some P24 million worth of pirated video discs in a raid on Manila's Quiapo district on Tuesday. Operatives from the Optical Media Board (OMB), supported by Manila Police District units, conducted the raid after receiving a tip that pirated discs were still being sold there, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported. A separate report on "24 Oras" said the OMB operatives had to use bolt cutters as some of the establishments along Elizondo Street were locked. But once the discs were found and confiscated, the vendors no longer resisted. The raid also discovered what appeared to be new cabinets for video karera machines. Manila's downtown district had gained notoriety for the sale of pirated discs, usually of television shows and movies. — DVM, GMA News
