BGC building evacuated after bomb threat

(Updated 5:03 p.m.) Fear gripped Taguig City's Bonifacio Global City (BGC) — still reeling from a deadly explosion in the area exactly a week ago — after a bomb threat was reported in one of the buildings there Friday afternoon.
Police investigators with K-9 units rushed to Net One Center building after receiving a call regarding the bomb threat but found no traces of explosives in the area, according to Superintendent Celso Rodriguez of Taguig City police.
Net One is an 18-storey building located at 26th corner 3rd Avenue in BGC. Its adjacent building, Marajo Tower, was also evacuated as per standard operating procedure, Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez said about 1:54 p.m., Jenny Pagulayan, an administrative staff of Cypress Call Center, one of the businesses in Net One Center, received a call saying there was a bomb in the building. She relayed this to the building's security, which informed the police about the threat.
"[Around] 3 p.m. pina-evacuate natin 'yung building, then 3:05 p.m. to 3:20 p.m., pinaamoy natin sa bomb-sniffing dogs ‘yung second floor. Based on our initial investigation, negative po," Rodriguez told GMA News Online by phone.
Big disruption
Chicho Suarez, marketing manager of the Net Group, one of the pioneer builders in BGC, said the incident caused “big” disruption with business operations in the area.
“Everything is okay," she said in a live interview aired on GMA News TV, adding the business disruption was "big because the whole building stopped its operation."
“As soon as we know that it is safe to return, then we will. You will be informed,” she added.
Disgruntled employee
Rodriguez said they are now zeroing in on the caller.
"'Yun tumawag ay lalaki," he said, adding the caller sounded young and was traced to Manila.
Rodriguez said a SWAT Team was placed on stand-by in the area.
"Ang tinutumbok ng investigation namin is disgruntled employee. Maaaring tinanggal sa call center tapos naghinanakit kaya nananakot ng empleyado… pwede rin na nanloloko lang din,” he said.
"Kinukuha na namin ‘yung mga records ng mga empleyado," Rodriguez said.
The incident occurred exactly a week after an explosion in the posh Two Serendra condominium resulted in the deaths of three people and hours after Interior Secretary Mar Roxas II announced at a press conference that the blast was a result of a gas leak and not a bomb. — KBK, GMA News
