Walang pasok: No classes on Monday in some NCR, Luzon areas due to expected rain


(Updated 10:23 p.m.) With heavy rain on Sunday and more expected rain on Monday due to the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm Maring (Trami), some schools in Metro Manila on Sunday evening decided to suspend classes for Monday. Valenzuela City: There will be no classes for preschool, daycare and kinder in public and private schools. Also suspended are classes at Wawang Pulo Elementary School, Wawang Pulo National High School, Pasolo Elementary School and Caruhatan National High School. San Juan City: Mayor Guia Gomez declared suspension of classes in all levels, preschool to college, in private and public schools. Mandaluyong City: Mayor Benhur Abalos announced the suspension of classes from elementary to high school in both public and private schools. Makati City: No classes in all levels, public and private, on orders of Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. Marikina City: Mayor Del de Guzman announced the suspension of classes in all levels, public and private. Manila: There will also be no classes in elementary and high school, private and public, dzBB's Rowena Salvacion reported. Philippine Women's University president Francisco Benitez also suspended work and classes in all levels for PWU Taft, PWU HS and JASMS Indiana, while Colegio de San Juan de Letran declared no classes in all levels Monday. Pateros: Classes are suspended Monday in all levels, in both private and public schools, according to a report on dzBB radio. Muntinlupa City: Mayor Jaime Fresnedi suspended classes from preschool to high school in private and public schools. Caloocan City: Mayor Oca Malapitan suspended classes in all levels in public and private schools. Outside NCR Benguet: Classes in all levels are suspended, according to the Department of Education. Cainta, Rizal: Classes suspended in all levels, public and private. "Marikina River is already on Alert Level 1. Our rivers are almost near overflow. Manggahan floodway gates have been opened. We expect rains to worsen our condition. We have likewise received an orange rainfall alert which poses risks on low-lying areas," Cainta said in an advisory. Cavite: no classes in preschool to high school, public to private, GMA TV's Bam Alegre reported. Dinalupihan, Bataan: Classes in all levels from daycare to college are suspended Monday. Obando, Bulacan: No classes at all levels, public and private, as per Presidential Communications and Operations Office. San Mateo, Rizal: No classes from preschool to high school, dzBB's Rowena Salvacion reported. No classes on Pres. Quezon's birthday DepEd also said there will be no classes on Monday in Quezon City and Quezon and Aurora provinces to mark the birth anniversary of former President Manuel Luis Quezon. It added there will be no classes nationwide on Aug. 21, Ninoy Aquino Day. "#walangpasok AUG 19-Birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. No classes, work in St. Scho Meanwhile, St. Scholastica's College Manila (SSC) vice president for academic affairs Prof. Virginia Fornas said in a text message that there will be no work and no classes at SSC in all levels on Monday due to the orange rainfall warning as well as there being no water in SSC because of the Maynilad water interruption.
