Makati, Skyway bus accidents injure 32


At least 32 people were injured in separate bus accidents in Makati City and at the Skyway in southern Metro Manila Monday morning. Some 21 people were injured after a passenger bus they were riding crashed along the elevated section of the Skyway in southern Metro Manila. The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. and involved a bus heading towards Cubao in Quezon City from Laguna province, radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported. Initial investigation showed the Greenstar bus crashed into a cement barrier near the toll plaza. The driver claimed the bus' brakes failed. The injured passengers were brought to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa for treatment. In Makati City, meanwhile, at least 11 people were injured after two buses collided in Makati City early Monday morning, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said. MMDA's Charlie Nozares said the accident occurred near the corner of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue and Estrella Street in Makati, radio dzBB reported. The 11 were brought to a nearby hospital as police investigated the cause of the accident. Nozares said the buses involved included an air-conditioned and an ordinary (non-air-conditioned) bus. — DVM, GMA News
