Authorities looking for Enzo Pastor’s wife, tags her as suspect

Following the arrests of the gunman and suspected mastermind in the killing of race car driver Ferdinand "Enzo" Pastor, authorities said they are now searching for his wife, whom they are now considering a suspect in the crime.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District's Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, confirmed that Dalia Pastor is tagged in the killing of her husband last June.

Investigation is still ongoing, Marcelo said, refusing to disclose operations that will be carried out regarding Pastor's wife.

"Ang na-establish po natin dito, may relasyon si Domingo at si Dalia, 'yung asawa po ng namatay," Marcelo added.

He said, however, that the suspected mastermind, businessman Domingo de Guzman III, was "in denial" of his supposed relationship with Dalia. De Guzman also denied any connection with the self-confessed gunman, PO2 Edgar Angel.

"In denial siya (De Guzman), ultimo nga 'yung pagkakakilala [sa gunman]," Marcelo said. "Hindi niya inaaming magkakilala sila ng pulis na 'to, na in fact, kumpareng buo niya pa."

Angel, who was arrested last Saturday in a drug buy-bust operation in Quezon City, said in a judicial affidavit that De Guzman hired him. On the other hand, De Guzman was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

De Guzman's ex-wife is the godmother of Angel's youngest child, Marcelo disclosed.

He added that a number of informants positively identified Angel with regards to the Pastor case following his arrest.

Meanwhile, Enzo's father, Thomas, said they did not see De Guzman at his son's wake, while Dalia and her family were present then, as well as during the prayer meeting to mark the 40th day of Enzo's death.

The family also refused to comment about the alleged affair between De Guzman and the slain racer's wife.

"As of this time, we do not know anything," said lawyer Salvador Panelo. "Until such time, we cannot make any comment."

Earlier, Thomas said the killing of his son may have been connected to a love triangle, which was the initial angle pursued by authorities handling the case.

Pastor, the first Filipino to participate in the NASCAR Whelen Euroseries Open Championship race circuit, was shot dead on June 12 at the corner of Visayas Avenue and Congressional Extension Avenue in Quezon City.

The victim was transporting a race car to Pampanga from Batangas, and had stopped at a traffic light when he was attacked. — Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/RSJ/KG/KBK, GMA News
