Girl dies from Quezon City floods – report

One person was reported killed in the wake of floods that submerged Metro Manila following heavy rain from Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong).

Citing information from the Office of Civil Defense, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen said the fatality was from Bagong Silangan in Quezon City.

While initial information described the victim as a 12-year-old girl, an update quoted OCD director Susan Cruz as saying the victim was a two-year-old girl.

On the other hand, state-run Philippine Information Agency said at least 1,276 affected families are in evacuation centers in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.

In Marikina City, at least 24,215 people or 5,221 families have been brought to 23 evacuation centers as Marikina River's water level swelled due to the rain. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
