Signal No. 2 raised over Metro Manila; NCR to feel Ruby's effects Monday evening

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 was raised over Metro Manila late Sunday evening as Typhoon Ruby continued slowly moving towards Mindoro.

PAGASA said in a press briefing late Sunday that Metro Manila can expect to feel the typhoon's full effects between 8 to 10 p.m. on Monday.

Residents can expect moderate to heavy rain (5 to 15 mm per hour) within the 450-km diameter of the typhoon.

In anticipation of the typhoon, local governments in the National Capital Region have already announced class suspensions on all levels.

The Metro Manila Development Authority has also announced that the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program will be lifted on Monday. Makati City, which implements the so-called number coding scheme independently of the MMDA, has yet to lift the UVVRP there.

The MMDA has also been put on red alert because of the typhoon.

Residents of coastal communities in Parañaque City were also ready to evacuate on Sunday but held off by doing so, saying it had not rained that day. Rescue teams and relief goods have already been prepositioned for when the storm hits, a city official said.  — JDS, GMA News
