TV set, air-conditioner, fans seized in Bilibid's 'Batman compound'

Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) prison guards on Wednesday discovered home appliances and luxurious cells in their latest raid at the New Bilibid Prison, a report by Bam Alegre in Balitanghali said.

 

A television set, an air conditioner, and electric fans were seized from the Batman Compound, the headquarters of the Batman Gang at the maximum security compound.

 

BuCor also found a tiled cell that had aquariums with fish in them.

 

Improvised blades and piles of antenna and metal that the inmates had been collecting were also recovered during the operation.

 

The raid was the 26th operation of Oplan Galugad, which commenced last year.

 

"Ang mahirap kontrolin as of now ay ang maliliit na bagay for example cellphones, sim cards, mga maliliit na sachet ng illegal drugs. Yan yung ating tinitignan ngayon kung papano natin sila mapipigilan na makapasok dito," a BuCor personnel said.

 

During its previous operations, BuCor demolished the lavish cells of gangs such as Batang Cebu and Batang City Jail. — Jessica Bartolome/APG, GMA News
