Malacañang: No classes in Metro Manila for elementary, HS on Monday, February 27, 2017


Malacañang suspended classes on Monday, February 27, 2017, for the elementary and secondary levels in the National Capital Region (NCR) in line with the scheduled nationwide transport strike.

The announcement was made by the Office of the Executive Secretary on Sunday evening.

For colleges and universities, the Palace said to wait for an announcement to suspend classes at 11 a.m. Monday.

Prior to this, several universities and colleges announced suspension of classes and office work, including:

  • De La Salle University (Taft/BGC/Makati campuses) - all levels/office work
  • College of Saint Benilde - all levels/office work
  • University of Santo Tomas - all levels/office work
  • Adamson University - all levels/office work
  • Guadalupe Catholic School - all levels
  • College of San Agustin in Iloilo - all levels/office work
  • Western Visayas State University - all levels
  • Far Eastern University (Manila/Makati campuses)
  • Lyceum of the Philippines University - all levels/office work
  • Colegio de San Juan de Letran
  • University of the Philippines Manila - all levels
  • Philippine Christian University, Manila campus - tertiary and below
  • Philippine Women's University, Manila and Quezon City campuses - all levels/office work
  • Trinity University of Asia - all levels/office work
  • St. Paul University, Quezon City - all levels
  • University of Negros Occidental - Recoletos
  • University of St. La Salle - Bacolod
  • Colegio San Agustin - Bacolod
  • La Consolacion College Bacolod
  • Riverside College Bacolod
  • STI West Negros University
  • Bacolod Taytung High School
  • St. John's Institute, Negros Occidental
  • University of the East, Manila and Caloocan campuses - all levels
  • Miriam College Quezon City - all levels/office work

The following local government units have also made a similar announcement:

  • Makati City - all levels for public schools
  • Iloilo City - all levels, public and private schools
  • Talisay City - all levels
  • Mandaue City - preschool to elementary
  • Navotas - all levels
  • Pateros - all levels
  • Cainta, Rizal - all levels
  • Parañaque City - all levels
  • Taytay, Rizal - all levels
  • Valenzuela City - elementary to high school, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, Valenzuela Polytechnic College
  • Bacolod City - all public elementary and high schools
