Travelers start to crowd NAIA-3 ahead of Holy Week

Vacationers have started to flock to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal three days before the Holy Week, a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday said.

Long queues of vehicles and passengers were seen at NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City as early as 4 a.m. Tuesday.

International flights were also said to be nearly fully booked, GMA News' Mav Gonzales reported.

Despite this, passengers still have to go through the X-ray machine as part of the security measures.

Traffic heading to the airport was also reported to have slowed down from Rotonda to Andrews Avenue.

Meanwhile, NAIA Terminal 3 passengers on Sunday endured long queues at Immigration counters since only three counters were open due to the absence of officers.

Nineteen immigration officers were said to be absent for weeks over the suspension of their overtime pay.

NAIA General Manager Ed Monreal, for his part, expressed concern about the frequent absence of the Immigration officers since there will be a heavy volume of passengers, noting that almost all international flights during the Holy Week were fully booked.

“Definitely it's a matter of concern right now... I would encourage  passengers to come much earlier than the usual para they can be cleared prior to their arrival na hindi sila nagmamadali at makaalis agad at hindi maiwanan,” Monreal said. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KG, GMA News
