'Tracks failure' disrupts MRT ops on Monday

Train operations of the Metro Rail Transit northbound were affected on Monday due to "tracks failure," the Department of Transportation-MRT 3 said in a tweet.

The problem resulted in provisional service from North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard and back starting at 5:56 a.m.

However, at 6:32 a.m., MRT-3 resumed normal operations.

The MRT has come under criticism for having glitches one after the other last week, even after maintenance checkup was done during the Holy Week.

MRT General Manager Rodolfo Garcia said they have increased their reaction time to fix the problems.

The DOTr ordered the maintenance contractor, Busan Universal Rail, Inc., to explain within seven days why the government should not terminate its contract amid glitches bugging the mass transit system. —KG, GMA News
