SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED

April 28 Quiapo blast case 'solved but not closed' –MPD chief

The head of the Manila Police District (MPD) on Monday said the April 28 bombing in Quiapo district in Manila is considered "solved" with the identification of some of the suspects, with one of them already in police custody.

At a press briefing, Chief Supt. Joel Coronel dismissed fears that the bombing was a handiwork of international terrorist group ISIS.

"This incident is a local peace and order problem concerning personalities residing in the area," said Coronel.

A suspect in the bombings, identified as Abel Macaraya, is already in police custody. He was presented during the press conference.

Macaraya denied that he's a member of international terrorist group ISIS.

Coronel said manhunt operations are ongoing to locate the other suspects, two of them identified as one Ali Moro and a Raymond Mendoza.

"We consider this case solved, but not closed," he said. "We need to effect the arrest of all perpetrators."

A total of 14 people were injured during the April 28 blast in Quiapo that police claimed was "a revenge attack" following a gang war that stemmed from the mauling of a minor. —KBK, GMA News
