2 more cops in 'hulidap' case surrender

The two remaining policemen tagged in the alleged kidnapping-extortion attempt on a businesswoman surrendered on Saturday morning.

Senior Superintendent Jose Chiquito Malayo, chief of the Philippine National Police's Counter Intelligence Task Force (CITF), identified the two cops as Police Officer 3 Bernandino Pacoma of the Civil Security Group and Senior Police Officer 2 Gerry dela Torre of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

Malayo said the two policemen surrendered around 10:30 a.m.

On Friday night, five other policemen identified as Police Officers 3 Michael Angelo Solomon and Luis Hizon Jr., Police Officer 2 Michael Huerto and Police Officers 1 Jovito Roque and Ricky Lamsen surrendered to the CITF.

The seven policemen are facing charges for violations of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code (Kidnapping), Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery), Republic Act No. 6935 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972, and Section 29 (Planting of Evidence) of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

They have been placed under the restrictive custody of the National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde.

The seven policemen are believed to be cohorts of four Malabon City policemen arrested earlier this week for the kidnapping and extortion try on businesswoman Norma de Guzman Adrales last May 20.

The four policemen initially arrested are facing the same charges.

The CITF said the policemen kidnapped and demanded from the victim P2 million in ransom money. The policemen also allegedly demanded one kilogram of shabu from the victim. —Anna Felicia Bajo/ALG, GMA News
