600 Bilibid inmates hospitalized due to 'food poisoning'

At least 600 inmates of the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City were hospitalized over the weekend, supposedly due to food poisoning.

In an exclusive report by Steve Dailisan on GMA News' Balitanghali, the inmates were hospitalized after complaints of stomach aches, diarrhea, and dehydration.

A total of 59 inmates remain hospitalized, while the rest have already been discharged.

The Bureau of Corrections is currently looking into the matter, and are looking at at least two possible sources of the food poisoning — the fish served inside the prison, or the water which may have been contaminated. —Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/ALG, GMA News
