Gunman shoots BIR officer in the face in Quezon City

Unidentified gunmen shot dead an officer of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Quezon City on Wednesday morning.

Superintendent Igmedio Bernaldez, chief of the Quezon City Police District's Station 2, identified the victim as Alberto Enriquez, chief assessment officer of BIR District 38 along West Avenue.

Bernaldez said the victim had just alighted from his SUV when a gunman approached and shot him in the face at close range.

The incident happened in front of the BIR District 38's office at past 7 a.m.

Police said the victim was about to report for work when he was shot dead.

Bernaldez said Enriquez's killing could be work related.

Investigators are now reviewing a CCTV camera footage of the shooting.

The footage showed that the shooter was a back rider of a motorcycle, driven by another person wearing a helmet.

Police were not able to immediately get the motorcycle's plate number. —report from Luisito Santos/ALG, GMA News
