Cops seize 9.5kg of marijuana, arrest two suspects in Manila operation

Police officers arrested two suspects and seized 9.5 kilograms of suspected marijuana, valued at P70,000, during a Tuesday morning buy-bust operation in Manila's Paco district, Super Radyo dzBB's James Agustin reported.

The suspects were identified as Sonnyboy Abucay and Gilbert Rosales - also known as Imbet.

According to the commander of the Pandacan Police Station's Drug Enforcement Unit, Sr. Inspector Val Valencia, undercover police officers were pretending to purchase P1,200 worth of marijuana from Rosales, who was the main target of the operation.

Rosales was arrested immediately after the purchase was made, and investigators later found the suspects' cache of illegal drugs.

Both suspects had been under surveillance for some time as they were believed to be the main source of marijuana in both the Paco and Pandacan districts.

Police investigators also believed that, in turn, the suspects appropriated their drugs from a source in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan.

Rosales later admitted that the marijuana came from someone named "nanay".

Both suspects will be charged under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — DVM, GMA News
