2 Manila cops nabbed for alleged extortion

Two more policemen supposedly involved in robbery-extortion activities surrendered during a follow-up operation by the Manila Police District (MPD) before dawn Saturday.

The MPD identified the suspects as Police Officers 1 Raymond Casas and Ell Tabing.

The two policemen were disarmed and were brought to the headquarters of the Counter-Intelligence Task Force in Camp Crame for processing and inquest.

On Friday night, Police Officer 1 Raymund Gulapa was arrested at Pier 12, Tondo, Manila during a supposed pay-off.

Based on a complaint filed with the CITF, Gulapa allegedly demanded money for the filing of a lower charge against a certain Jayvare Manubag, who was nabbed last July 7 for alleged possession of illegal drugs.

Gulapa supposedly demanded for P15,000, but later lowered the amount to P10,000.

Seized from him were a .9mm Glock pistol and a .38 revolver. —Anna Felicia  Bajo/ALG, GMA News
