Activist group storms Camp Crame gates ahead of Duterte's 2nd SONA

A day after Congress approved the extension of martial law in Mindanao, militant groups on Sunday marched to Camp Crame in Quezon City to voice protest against such move.

In several videos posted by dzBB Super Radyo reporter Sam Nielsen, members of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN)-Southern Tagalog stormed Gate 2 of the Philippine National Police's headquarters in Camp Crame, with an effigy resembling a tank of the Armed Forces of the Philippines which they plan to burn.

The group also held a protest action in front of the gates of the Armed Forces of the Philippines' national headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, which is just in front of Camp Crame.

Congress during a special session on Saturday approved the extension of martial law in the Mindanao region until December 31, 2017, with 261 affirmative votes from both houses.

The same group will join other BAYAN groups who will march to the Batasan Pambansa Complex to hold protests during President Rodrigo Duterte's second State of the Nation Address on Monday. —Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/ALG, GMA News
