Priest arrested with 13-year-old girl out on bail

Monsignor Arnel Lagarejos, the priest arrested for allegedly soliciting sex with a 13-year-old girl, is out on bail.

According to a report by Trisha Zafra on "24 Oras on Tuesday, Lagarejos was allowed to post bail of P120,000. He is facing charges for RA 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.

"Based na rin po sa batas, kaya rin nag-come up ang prosecutor's office na mayroong bail dahil na rin sa mga reference sa mga statements ng ating complainant at limited din po sa na-commit na crime," said PC/Insp. Melanie Redon of the women and children's protection desk of the Marikina City police.

"May mga subpoena naman pong ipinapadala sa suspect natin," she added.

Lagarejos was arrested on Friday night while in the company of the girl, who was allegedly pimped out by a 16-year-old friend. The alleged pimp was also arrested by the police.

The entrapment operation was set by the Marikina City Police's Women and Children Protection Desk based on a complaint by the girl's mother.

Lagarejos has been suspended by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. —JST, GMA News
