Former BusinessWorld editor, brother killed in San Juan City ambush


A former mediaman and his brother were killed by suspects riding in tandem on Thursday evening in San Juan City, Luisito Santos reported on Super Radyo's dzBB.

One of the victims died on the spot, while the second victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The victims were identified as Michael Marasigan, a former editor of BusinessWorld, who is now a consultant of the Department of Finance.

His brother, Christopher, was driving the vehicle at the time of the shooting, which occurred on Barcelona corner V. Cruz Streets in Barangay Sta. Lucia, San Juan City.

 

 

GMA News' Jamie Santos reported on "Saksi" that the incident occurred around 6 in the evening on Thursday as the victims were on their way home from a nearby barangay.

The police found more than 30 spent bullets on the ground, which they said was an indication that the suspects made sure the victims would die.

The names of the victims were not released as of posting time, pending relaying the information to the victims' families the police said.

San Juan Police Chief Senior Supt. Lawrence Coop said the ambush seemed to have been accomplished by professional hitmen.

However, the motive of the shooting is still unclear.

The police are investigating the shooting incident to also determine the identity of the suspect. — BAP, GMA News
