CCTV footage shows vehicle allegedly linked to Atio's case

A red pick up was used to bring the lifeless body of alleged hazing victim Horacio "Atio" Castillo to Chinese General Hospital, as seen in a CCTV footages of two barangays in Manila.

A "24 Oras" report by GMA News' Saleema Refran on Wednesday aired the video obtained from Barangay 493 in Manila, showing that at 8:56 a.m. on Sunday, a red Mitsubishi Strada passed along Dimasalang Street and turned to Blumentritt Street.

Another CCTV camera footage, this time from Barangay 372, showed that the car entered the hospital's premises at 8:57 a.m.

The same video shows suspect John Paul Solano, onboard a motorcycle, behind the vehicle.

"Alam ko Ma'am sa Camp Crame dinadala po 'yung ano... CCTV footage po namin Ma'am tapos sila po 'yung tumingin po para makita 'yung plate number ng maayos Ma'am," said Barangay chairman Victor Eusebio.

The plate number, based on the information provided by the Land Transportation Office, it was learned that the said vehicle was registered to Antonio Trangia, whom they believe is the father of Ralph Trangia, an alleged official of the Aegis Juris Fraternity.

The Trangias are now also named as suspects on Castillo's death.

A staff member of the tire store owned by Trangia confirmed that Antonio owned it. However, he said Antonio left together with his wife just Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the father of John Paul Solano, who is a doctor, said his son always helps him in his clinic because the latter is a medical technologist.

Solano's father said he was with his son the whole day Saturday while on Sunday noontime, they both had a haircut. He said he did not notice if his son left the house.

Solano's father said he last saw his son on Monday. At present, he is unable to contact him.

He also denied that he has knowledge that his son joined the fraternity. He admitted that his son is a law student, however, he has not enrolled for a year.

He believes his son was part of the initiation rites. He said that he knows John Paul as a very helpful friend.

John Paul's father said he hopes is son is safe.

John Paul is among the individuals included in the Look Out Bulletin Order issued by the Bureau of Immigration along with 15 other members of the Aegis Juris fraternity, who were linked to Castillo's death.

Police said Castillo died of a massive heart attack possibly due to the injuries he suffered after undergoing hazing.

The University of Santo Tomas already vowed to investigate the incident and to submit a list of names of the members of the fraternity to the Manila Police District (MPD).

UST Faculty of Civil Law dean Nilo Divina earlier lifted the suspension imposed on the members of the Aegis Juris fraternity so that they would be available for investigation and interviews.

The victim's family learned about the incident when his mother Carminia Castillo received an anonymous text message saying that her son was brought to the Chinese General Hospital. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BAP, GMA News
