Car thieves take TNVS driver’s AUV, throw him off cliff

Car thieves posing as passengers on Thursday robbed a transport network vehicle service (TNVS) driver of the vehicle he was driving and threw him off a cliff.

According to an exclusive report by Jamie Santos on Unang Balita on Friday, the driver with the alias "Angelo" said a passenger booked a ride from Santolan, Pasig City past 12 a.m. on Thursday.

When he went to the pick-up point, three passengers boarded his Asian Utility Vehicle, a red Toyota Innova with plate number ABD 7740, and asked to be brought to Masinag in Antipolo City.

However, before they could reach Masinag, one of the passengers declared a carnap, Angelo said.

The passengers then hit him and made him transfer to the back seat. One of the passengers commandeered the vehicle.

"Sinakal na ako sabay tutok ng kutsilyo tapos pinalipat ako sa likod then ayun, pina-ano ako sa floor, dapa," Angelo said.

The two passengers at the back tied his hands and feet and put a blindfold on him.

One of them then called someone on a cellphone and said they were picking him up.

The AUV suddenly stopped and the car thieves told him to go down and jump. However he could not do so since his hands and feet were tied. The car thieves then threw him off a cliff.

"Hinagis ako palabas. Bagsak ako. Tapos pinatatayo ako then sabi, 'O, tayo ka na. Talon ka na diyan.' Sabi ko ayoko. Bangin. Hinagis ako. Nahulog ako, siguro mga 10 feet," Angelo said.

Angelo added his hands were not tied very tightly so he was able to free himself.

He was able to crawl up the cliff which was about 10 feet, then walked until he saw the barangay hall in Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal.

Angelo said the barangay tanod brought him to Tanay Police office.

However, after talking to the policemen, he was directed to go to the Pasig City Police.

Aside from the AUV, the suspects also took Angelo's wallet containing cash and cards.

Angelo said due to the trauma, he might not be able to drive anymore.

Pasig City Police said they will investigate the case. —KG, GMA News
