Man nabbed for selling firearms without licenses

A man was arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Detective and Special Operation Unit (CIDG-DSOU) for allegedly selling unlicensed firearms.

According to a report on Unang Balita on Friday by Jay Sabale, the suspect arrested was identified as Ramon Atong.

The suspect was nabbed after CIDG-DSOU operatives set an entrapment operation inside his car.

For P60,000, Atong would sell a 9-mm Barretta with extra magazine and ammunition and a 12-gauge shotgun.

Afterwards, binebenta rin niya sa iba," said Senior Inspector Reydian Corales, chief of operations of CIDG-DSOU.

Recovered inside the car of Atong were a caliber .40 firearm and ammunition.

Atong did not deny that he was selling unlicensed firearms.

Authorities also recovered an Army reservist ID card and NBI badge inside Atong's car. They are currently verifying the authenticity of these items as of posting time. —KG, GMA News
