Police: 5 persons of interest in Pasig rape-slay case

Police investigators are considering five individuals as persons of interest in the rape-slay case of a bank employee in Pasig City, GMA News' Emil Sumangil reportedon 24 Oras on Wednesday.

Authorities believed that the persons of interest are also residents of the compound where Mabel Tagala Cama lived.

The report said police returned to the area where some witnesses saw Mabel holding her cellphone past 11 p.m. last Friday. The place was a few meters away from the spot where her burned body was found on Sunday morning.

"Pwedeng [hinila] siya from there going here or pumunta rito... dito na lahat ginawa ang krimen," said Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula.

Police said there is a big possibility that the "struggle" between Mabel and the perpetrators took place in front of a store as Mabel's shoulder bag was found under a bus that was parked in front of the said store.

Her shawl, meanwhile, was seen in a windshield of a mini van which was parked beside the bus.

"Dito lang sa ano... sa ibabaw ng wiper. Noong dumating ako, nakaparada 'yung sasakyan ko dito, 'yung motor kaharap diyan, nakita ko na 'yun," said Antonio Arojo, the owner of the mini van.

A strand of hair was found by authorities in the backseat of the mini van.

Outside the garage where Mabel's body was found, some buttons, which could be from her blouse, were also recovered.

"Parang ginamitan ng hard object 'yung ulo ng biktima, pero siyempre ang magde-determine pa rin specifically kung ano ang ginamit pagpatay sa kanya ay 'yung crime laboratory," Sapitula said.

"'Yung mga may kagagawan nito, makonsensiya ka. Sisiguraduhin ko na mahuhuli't-mahuhuli ka," Sapitula added. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
