Motorcycle-riding gunmen slay Caloocan couple

A married couple were shot dead early Friday morning by motorcycle-riding suspects in Caloocan City's Barangay Bagong Silang, according to a report on GMA 7 news program "24 Oras".

Victims Justine Bangay and his wife Margarita were shot in the head as they were riding home on their motorcycle, having just come from the local marketplace.

A witness said the victims were followed and then cornered by the suspects, who were riding two motorcycles.

Margarita was dead by the time the police arrived at the scene, while Justine was still alive and rushed to the hospital. But he, too, eventually expired, according to Barangay Bagong Silang official Vicente Cruz.

Caloocan City police investigators said that they had identified persons of interest in the crime. City police chief Senior Superintendent Jemar Modequillo added that Justine was known to have an ongoing disagreement with an individual.

Meanwhile, the victim's sister, Jocelyn Bangay, said she did not know why anyone would want to kill the couple. — Margaret Claire Layug/DVM, GMA News
