Cabbie in viral road rage video files complaints vs. female attacker

The taxi driver who was punched in the face by a furious female motorist went to the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday morning to press charges.

Virgilio Doctor, 52, filed charges of physical injury, unjust vexation, and malicious mischief against private car owner Cherish Sharmaine Interior, 31.

In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Doctor said that Interior was also cursing while hitting him repeatedly due to a traffic-related argument.

Interior was caught on a viral video while hitting Doctor in the face and trying to dismantle the side mirror of the man's taxi. The incident occurred after Doctor attempted to overtake the vehicle of Interior.

"Parang napikon sa busina namin," Doctor said. "Ang pagkakaalam ko lang po...medyo nairita, napikon, kaya siya nagkaganon."

He said that he only honked his horn at Interior because she was driving too slow.

"Yung pasahero ko medyo nagmamadali pumasok," Doctor said.

Doctor added that Interior had also grabbed a tube or golf club and had hit his taxi before she punched him in the face.

The taxi driver, a stroke survivor in 2014, was seen getting out of the taxicab and sitting on the sidewalk after the altercation.

Doctor, who was slurring during the radio interview, said that he had to get out of the cab to rest because he feared he would suffer another stroke.

He and his operator had already coordinated with the authorities of the Land Transportation and Regulatory Board regarding the incident. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/ALG, GMA News
