2 Marawi siege victims caught in drug bust in Quezon City

Two victims of the Marawi City siege have been arrested in drug buy-bust operation in Quezon City.

Police identified the suspects as Jalani Macabangon and Juhanymama Ampuan.

In an exclusive report by Cesar Apolinario on 24 Oras on Saturday, the two suspects were selling drugs to a poseur-buyer.

Police seized several plastic packs of shabu worth P400,000 from the suspects.

Senior Inspector Dennis Francisco, head of the intelligence team of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 4's drug enforcement unit, said the two suspects went to Manila to seek jobs after being displaced by the Marawi City siege.

"Biktima sila ng Marawi siege tapos nang wala na ang kabuhayan nila doon, pumunta sila dito para makipagsapalaran. Kaso ang napasukan namannila easy money, ang pagbebenta ng droga," Francisco said.

QCPD director Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar said other evacuees from the war-torn city who also fled to Metro Manila could also be involved in illegal drugs. —ALG, GMA News
