Fire hits computer store along Gilmore Avenue

Fire hit a computer store in Barangay Valencia, Quezon City late Monday evening, Luisito Santos reported on Super Radyo's dzBB.

The store is one of the establishments at the Aurora Garden Plaza at the corner of Gilmore Avenue and Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City.

According to Santos' report on Unang Balita on Tuesday, the fire broke out at around 8:30 p.m.

Initial investigation showed the fire started from the stockroom of a computer store on the second floor.

No one was in the stockroom when the fire broke, so it quickly spread and razed the computer parts and accessories stored in the room.

Firemen said they had difficulty putting out the fire since the store was padlocked and they could only see smoke.

The responders from the Bureau of Fire Protection were able to save several pisonet machines.

It took two hours before the fire, which reached the first alarm, was put out by 10:15 p.m.

Investigators are looking into faulty electrical wiring or an appliance left plugged in the socket as possible causes of the fire.

Structural damage was estimated to cost P200,000, while the total cost of the computer parts burned is still being determined.

Although the computer parts being sold on the first floor were not burned, it is possible these may no longer be usable due to water damage.

No one was hurt in the fire. —BAP/KG, GMA News
