Metro Manila police on full alert amid possible terror groups' retaliation

Police in Metro Manila are on full alert following the arrest of a widow of slain terrorist leaders Khadafy Janjalani and Zulkifli bin Hir.

An Unang Balita report said that according to National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde, they have not received any direct terror threat in Metro Manila.

Albayalde, however, said terror groups may be planning to launch attacks because of the arrest of Juromee Dongon, widow of the two slain militant leaders.

Dongon was arrested with four suspected local terror group members, including a former policeman, in Lanao del Norte over the weekend.

Police said Dongon, aside from being the widow of two militant leaders, "assists, associates, networks and supports terrorist groups."

Police said the widow was linked with the Abu Sayyaf group and Southeast Asian terror group Jemaah Islamiyah.

Firearms and explosives were seized from Dongon and the other suspects, including her father and sister. —ALG, GMA News
