Suspect in Pasay hotel robbery in January nabbed in Marikina drug bust

One of the four armed men who stormed and robbed a hotel in Pasay City and its guests was arrested in a drug bust in Marikina City on Saturday night.

A report on 24 Oras identified the suspect as Rene Cachilla, one of the armed men involved in the robbery at the Mabuhay Manor Hotel early January.

Chief Inspector Arman Buban of the Marikina City Police said Cachila admitted his involvement in the hotel robbery.

Buban said Cachila also told investigators that he was involved in other robbery incidents in Cavite province and Pasay City.

He said that during the interrogation, Cachila said the hotel robbery's mastermind was Ramoncito Calilap, a former employee of the hotel.

Buban said Calilap was arrested last March 19 for gunrunning.

Police also said that according to Cachila, four more people were involved in the hotel robbery. He and three others stormed the hotel and the two other men served as their lookout.

Buban said they are now coordinating with the Pasay City Police following Cachila's confession. —Anna Felicia Bajo/ALG, GMA News
