MTRCB checks movies being shown in provincial buses

Personnel from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on Tuesday visited bus terminals in Metro Manila and reminded drivers not to show inappropriate movies during trips.

The MTRCB's first stop was the Araneta Bus Grand Terminal in Cubao, where its personnel caught a driver showing downloaded or pirate movies in a passenger bus.

An Unang Balita report said the driver was prohibited by the MTRCB personnel from showing downloaded films and reminded him that only G- and PG-rated materials can be played during trips.

In a statement, MTRCB Chairperson Rachel Arenas said they will also conduct inspections at the bus terminals of Super Lines, Baliwag Transit, Genesis Transport Services, Inc. and JAC Liner in Quezon City; GV Florida Transport in Manila and the Southwest Bus Terminal in Pasay City.

She said the inspection was aimed to "to increase public awareness" and make sure that children "will not be exposed to materials inappropriate for their ages" while traveling for the holidays.

The Land Transportation Office and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority also conducted separate inspections at the Araneta Bus Grand Terminal and other bus terminals.

The LTO personnel made sure that all provincial buses scheduled to leave the terminal are in good condition to avoid accidents.
