NAIA investigating alleged bag pilferage in airport

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) authorities are in contact with a passenger who claimed that her baggage was pilfered when she claimed it in Manila.

In a statement on Monday, NAIA wrote that a female passenger flew into Manila from Hong Kong via Cebu Pacific Flight 5J113 after a previous London-Hong Kong flight.

The passenger's baggage was placed inside a Unit Load Device (ULD) or baggage container and secured in the plane after checking-in.

"CCTV security footage showed that the ULD arrived Manila intact, with the passenger’s baggage inside. CCTV footage further showed ground personnel loading the baggage on the carousel with the lock still in place," the statement read.

Because of the passenger's previous flight, NAIA authorities are coordinating with ground handlers at the Hong Kong International Airport "to trace the handling of the passenger’s baggage from the time she arrived in Hong Kong."

"We are in touch with the passenger concerned and shall update her when more details are available," NAIA wrote. —Rie Takumi/KG, GMA News
