Alert Level 2 raised for Marikina River; evacuations advised
The alert for Marikina River has been raised to level 2, as water continued to rise early Sunday due to continued rains.
A report by Bernadette Reyes on Balitanghali said water level was at 17.4 meters Sunday morning, slightly below the 18-meter critical mark that would necessitate forced evacuation of residents near the riverbank.

Marikina authorities are calling on affected residents to evacuate before the water level hits the 18-meter mark.
Likewise, they advised residents to avoid taking a dip in the river as it is extremely dangerous.
In Barangay Malanday, floodwaters have already entered some houses.
Meanwhile, roads in riverbank areas were non-passable to light vehicles as flood level rose to two feet.
Rescue teams have been doing the rounds along the riverbank for those who would possibly need assistance. —LBG, GMA News
